A & E DEPARTMENT, QMC NOTTINGHAM

This project combines both new build and internal refurbishment at one of the largest A & E Departments in the country. The brief was to produce a modern facility responding to the changing needs of the Health Service population around Nottingham.

The new build contains the new resuscitation, entrance spaces and office accommodation. Later internal refurbishment phases involved a complex series of carefully planned alterations with phased decanting. Due to the visibility of the building from all sides, the main new build structure comprised a number of sculptured elements including a metal standing seam curved roof, a tensile skinned entrance canopy, curtain walling and feature staircase.
